Description
Big days in the mountains require a bike that can handle it all — steep, rowdy descents, technical lines, and the long grinds back to the top. The Tracer 279 delivers, blending the aggressive DNA of a downhill rig with the efficiency and control needed for all-day epics. Now upgraded with a Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) and SRAM T-Type compatibility, this machine is future-proofed for the latest drivetrain tech.
Inspired by the legendary M29 downhill bike, the Tracer’s bottom link-driven rear suspension soaks up big hits, chatter, and everything in between. But what sets this bike apart is its balanced ride feel — plush when you need it, efficient when you’re pedaling out. The shock is positioned low and centered in the frame, keeping the bike composed and planted even on the gnarliest trails.
The Stash Take
If you want enduro confidence with real trail versatility, the Tracer 279 Expert is the sweet spot. It carries speed, stays quiet through chop, and the JS-tuned enduro linkage keeps the rear planted under braking while staying supportive when you push. The mullet setup (29” front / 27.5” rear) gives you the best of both full 29" and 27.5" setups.
What really stands out with this bike as with most Intense models is the build quality for the price. Unlike many manufacturer's Intense doesn’t cut corners on build spec. You’re getting a parts mix that you don’t have to fix on day one which equates to fewer upgrades and less shop time down the road.

Frame Storage
The Chad Storage system is an on-bike storage solution that is being introduced on the Tracer. This system is not one individual part but a concept for storage solutions that will continue to evolve.

Flip Chip Adjustability
The Tracer has a 'Flip Chip' feature which allows you to alter your bike's geometry between two positions. The High setting is best in technical terrain, while the Low is more suitable for flow and bike park-style riding.

JS Tuned Link
JS stands for Jeff Steber (the founder and CEO of Intense); simply put, it is a sophisticated suspension system that uses two counter-rotating links to connect the front and rear triangles of the bike.
The links are precisely placed to separate the pedaling and braking forces from the suspension performance. Every Intense model has its own specific JS tune.
